2027 MEDICARE ANNUAL ENROLLMENT

Your Medicare plan may be changing for 2027.

Annual Enrollment is the time to read your plan notice, understand what is changing and make sure your doctors, hospitals, prescriptions and costs still fit.

START HERE

Do not throw away your plan notices.

Your Annual Notice of Change explains what your plan will cover, reduce, remove or charge differently next year. Keep the letter, along with any notice that your plan is terminating. If you later qualify for a Medicare Supplement guaranteed-issue right, you may need that notice as proof.

Important: A plan that is automatically replaced still deserves a review. The replacement may have different doctors, hospitals, drug coverage, copays or yearly costs.

WHAT TO CHECK

Compare the details that affect your year.

Do not judge a plan by its premium alone. These are the details that can change your care and your budget.

Your doctors and hospitals

Check every primary doctor, specialist, medical group, clinic and hospital you use. The same health system name does not guarantee that every doctor is included.

Prescription coverage

Review your deductible, copays, coinsurance, drug tiers, pharmacy choices and any coverage rules for every medication you take.

Your out-of-pocket costs and yearly maximum

Review the deductible, copays, coinsurance and plan maximum out-of-pocket amount. A lower premium can still come with more financial exposure during the year.

Plan changes and deadlines

Check whether the plan is changing, being replaced or ending. Enroll by December 31 for a January 1 effective date when that timing applies.

2027 Annual Enrollment Questions

Clear answers to the questions beneficiaries are asking this enrollment season.

What is the Annual Notice of Change?

It is the letter from your Medicare plan explaining what will change for the coming year, including benefits, costs, drug coverage and the plan's maximum out-of-pocket amount. Keep it and read it before making a decision.

What happens if my Medicare plan is ending?

You may need to choose new coverage. Some people are automatically moved to a replacement plan, while others must take action. If no action is taken, you may have Original Medicare starting January 1, without the plan benefits you had before.

Can I keep my doctors if my plan changes?

Sometimes. The answer depends on the exact plan, medical group, hospital, specialist and referral rules. Each important provider should be checked for the new plan year.

Do I have to enter my doctors and prescriptions into the calendar?

No. The calendar is only for choosing a time for your review call. You can bring your plan notice, doctor list, prescriptions and pharmacy information to the appointment.
