Coachella Valley Medicare Changes for 2027: Check Your Plan and Doctors
Desert Care Network has announced that certain Centene-affiliated plans will no longer have in-network access to its hospitals and health-system-employed providers starting January 1, 2027. This is a provider-network change—not a notice that every affected Medicare Advantage plan is ending. The change matters to beneficiaries in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin who rely on Desert Care Network hospitals, clinics or employed providers.
What has Desert Care Network announced for 2027?
Desert Care Network says certain Health Net, WellCare/WellCare by Health Net and Ambetter from Health Net products will no longer have in-network access to its hospitals and system-employed providers starting January 1, 2027.
This is a provider-network change, not a notice that every affected Medicare Advantage plan is ending. The network serves the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin. If you rely on Desert Care Network doctors or facilities, the key question is whether your exact 2027 plan will still include them.
How can you check whether you can keep your doctors?
Use the full plan name on your 2027 notice. Ask both the plan and each doctor’s office whether your exact plan will be accepted for care beginning January 1. Check the doctors and facilities you actually use—one provider being covered does not confirm the rest of your care team.
- Your primary doctor and specialists
- The medical group and hospital you rely on
- Whether the office will see you under that exact 2027 plan
If you need another coverage option
If your doctors will not be in your plan’s network, you can compare other Medicare Advantage plans during Annual Enrollment, October 15 through December 7. Another possibility may be Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement plan and separate drug coverage.
